Tour – Canada/USA

Tour – Canada/USA

When we arrived in Toronto on Friday, the 19th of august, we were completely impressed by the unexpected largeness of Toronto. After a Toronto-sightseeing-tour we gave a folk-concert at the Association of Danube Swabians on Saturday evening. The concert hall was sold out due to the perfect organisation by the president of the Burgenländer Club & Burgenländische Gemeinschaft John Brunner and his team, including Eva Hergovich, born in Klingenbach in the Burgenland and living inMississauga. Until late in the evening the performers and the audience were dancing and singing in German, Croatian and Hungarian.
On Sunday we played at a Croatian mass inKitchener and gave a dance-programme at the Croatian picnic organized by the folk-group Queen Helena. We were singing, dancing and talking until late in the evening. The following day we visited a Mennonite community and enjoyed a swim in the greatLake Huron. On our journey toNew York we made a stop at the tremendousNiagara Falls. A sightseeing-tour, museums, a Broadway-show, shopping, everything was exciting inNew York.
Due to the hurricane Irene we could not perform at the big Croatian picnic because all outdoor-performances, shows and flights were cancelled for two days. There were no busses or trains going, no shops were open in the city. We were happy to return toAustria without problems.
Thank you to all who helped to make our journey such an unforgettable experience.
